A Nice Clay Mask

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

I’m a regular user of face masks so was looking forward to trying this one by Eve Lom. Marketed as bringing out impurities and leaving the skin feeling more moisturised for up to 72 hours, it definitely caught my attention. The price does seem high but when you compare the amount of product in the jar vs the single use sachets available from multiple brands, you get a decent deal. You’ll have enough weekly applications to last a few months in each jar! It goes on similarly to any other clay mask, and includes a spatula for application. You apply a thin layer all over the face and allow it to air dry before rinsing off. It contains little pieces of almond shell to act as an exfoliant when you rinse. I did experience a mild burning sensation once applied to dry skin. This wasn’t painful but was uncomfortable and lasted until the product dried down. I found the almond shell ok for exfoliating but a bit rough and unnecessary for me as I prefer to use acidic exfoliant serums like BHA. I was concerned about a breakout but didn’t get one and haven’t had any more blemishes than I would usually expect. It did leave my skin feeling soft but I didn’t notice any lasting moisturising effects. Overall it’s a nice mask, especially if you like to treat yourself to weekly facials. I think I’d prefer it without the almond shell personally.

Amazing

I have dry sensitive rosacea skin. I tried many clay masks for my occasional spots, but all of them dried me out and damaged my skin barrier. This is the only clay mask that didn't do that and helped heal spots quicker

Gorgeous face mask

Love the packaging! This comes with a mini spatula to assist with application. The product is almost like clay. It is quite tingly when you apply it and it makes your skin feel extremely refreshed. It’s a good wake up in the mornings! I rinse off with the help of a muslin cloth and my skin feels absolutely incredible. Great product.

Refreshing face mask

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

I love Eve Lom products so I was keen to try this. Be careful when opening it as there was quite a lot of liquid sitting on the top of the clay which I wasn't expecting and it went everywhere. The product is quite dull looking with not a particularly nice smell but it went on very smoothly (spatula included) and felt nice and cool on the skin. Stings a little as lots of clay masks do. Skin was left looking refreshed and pinky coloured. Any excess oil on the skin was removed. I will continue to use to refresh my face once or twice a week. Overall happy with the product but not a wow factor for me.

A decent clay mask for all but very sensitive skin

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

This comes with a little spatula which is needed to give it a good stir as it’s like a solid lump of clay in water when it’s settled, a bit like a bag of mozarella! When applied it’s thick and doesn’t drip. I’m wondering if they’ve re-formulated the product because I bought this years ago and it used to completely dry and flake; the idea was to rub the dry product in circles to brush it off and exfoliate the skin. Now, it no longer dries in the recommended time and no brushing off is needed - you remove with a muslin cloth (not supplied). After 15 minutes, it left my skin looking refreshed and clear. The refreshing glow is partly because it contains alcohol denat and camphor (same ingredient in Vicks), which bring blood to the surface and do make the skin tingle very slightly. I have rosacea and luckily this wasn’t a problem, nor did it trigger any reaction in my dry / sensitive skin. I took one star off for the price - it’s a very simple clay mask with no wonder ingredient or dramatic results, plus those two ingredients aren’t ideal for all skins.
