The Clear and Defend Plus Facial Wash is a refreshing formula that helps to cleanse the skin, encouraging a clarified, more radiant look. Neutrogena’s face wash is powered by a 4% AHA/PHA blend that helps to even the skin tone and soothe the appearance of blemishes.
A 2% concentration of glycolic acid seeks to minimise the appearance of discolouration caused by blemishes. Gluconolactone, a resurfacing agent, aims to refine the skin, while salicylic acid helps to remove excess sebum. Discover a balanced-looking complexion with this revitalising face wash.
- Application: Wet face. Apply to hands, add water and massage face gently. Rinse thoroughly. Start with one application daily, then increase to two if desired. If dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day.
- Please Note: Avoid contact with eyes. Contains an AHA that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and sunburn. Use a sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.

Neutrogena clear skin facial wash
I tested this product and liked that it is unscented, the product lathers up nicely and feels very lightweight on my skin. I did however find it too harsh on my skin when using daily so I reduced the frequency according to the instructions. Once I found the right balance for me I have found that my skin is clearer and has reduced acne and redness. I have now added this into my skincare routine just twice a week to treat and look after my skin. #HomeTesterClubFreeSample

Lovely face wash

Works well

Not a bad face wash!
Not a bad face wash at all, but I've definitely used better. Personally, I found that this made my skin feel quite tight after use. However, I haven't had any breakouts when using it, so it's obviously doing its job! #HomeTesterClubFreeSample

Good but drying
I found the product really easy to apply and use, and liked the fact it’s not an overpowering scent which makes it perfect even for sensitive skin. It cleans my face and has definitely helped clear blemishes but I have found it’s make my face really dry straight away following so I’ve had to switch to a more heavy based moisturiser following to balance it out! Not the worst thing in the world but something to keep in mind for my dry skinned people. I really do like that it’s not irritating at all! #HomeTesterClubFreeSample

Less spots but made my skin dry
I have been using this product for over 2 weeks and at first I found it was trying out my skin and my skin felt tight. Over time my skin started to get used to this and I could see tiny spots improving rapidly. My skin is clearer and spot free since using clear and defend, but definitely drier than I would like.

Very Effective!
I was a little bit sceptical to start, as I didn’t really think a face wash could have such a great effect, but I was pleasantly surprised. Fortunately for this review, I had a spot on my forehead just after it arrived, so I took the opportunity to test the product by using it once daily every morning, in line with the recommendation on the bottle. The product is quite gentle in scent as it is fragrance free and lathers well. I noticed my eyes stung a little if it got in, but just need to take more care when using it. The results spoke for themselves, by the next morning my spot had gone down to be nearly invisible and over the next few days, reduced in size and pigment. Looking forward to seeing if it has any effect on hyperpigmentation, which I usually get after spots, but I would definitely repurchase and use alongside other products. Neutrogena did well with this one.
