So far I’ve only used this three times and I will say that when I left it on overnight my hair was hydrated and coated ( without being too heavy ) and the split ends and damage were less visible. On my first two applications I followed the instructions and didn’t notice a huge difference. I think it probably does work but I prefer the Phillip Kingsley intensive pre wash myself - the elastisizer
