Silicone Free Haircare

Hair products with silicones are used to tame flyaways and frizz, leaving you with salon-fresh silky-smooth locks. But silicones can build up on your strands, weighing them down and even stopping water from penetrating your hair. It’s easy to banish silicones from your hair with a silicone-free shampoo and silicone-free conditioner. Use them regularly and these ultra-nourishing formulas will eliminate silicone and grime build-up, while leaving hair noticeably shinier and healthier.

Silicone ingredients usually end in “-cone” or “-xane”, so you can look out for these on the ingredients list. Alternatively, shop our range of silicone-free shampoo and you’ll find plenty of formulas that are made without silicones.

So why is Silicone bad for your hair? Some of the silicones found in hair shampoos are hydrophobic, which means they repel water. This means that your strands lose moisture, becoming drier and more prone to breakages. Not all silicones are bad though, some are water-soluble meaning they wash away when you rinse your hair, and don’t build up on the hair cuticle.

Don't be confused by Silicone Free and Sulphate Free haircare products. While silicone build-up can stop moisture from getting into your hair, sulphates can strip your hair of moisture. Shampoos are formulated with sulphates to create a gentle lather that helps lift away oil, dirt and product build-up. High-quality hair products with silicone deliver shine and smoothness, and help to detangle your hair.
